"My love of food has enriched my life in so many ways. It has taken me around the world and led to friendships with people who continue to inspire me everyday"

Food writer, stylist and cook author Louise Pickford shares her passion for cooking with others in her French country kitchen in South West France. With only cows as neighbours, nature is at it’s most splendid, promising bountiful fresh vegetables, fruits, meats and fresh seafood. Louise has a very laid back approach to cooking and teaching, taking the freshest of ingredients and cooking them simply, pairing them with flavours from around the world. The courses are instructional, but very hands on, so you get to cook everything. You don’t need to have any particular skills, as all levels are catered for - all you need is a love of food and be wiling to share this with other liked minded foodies.

Louise offers a variety of different course. There is a twice monthly cook club where you can discover many different styles of cooking from French classics to Japanese cooking, Bread making to Pasta making and many more. These are run throughout the year and attract locals and holiday makers alike. They are immersive, hands on classes where you cook over 4 hours and then eat what you make together. Both Cook & Dine and Private Lessons are more bespoke and can be discussed and planned on request.

Louise has recently added several day and multi day residential cooking workshops. These take place about 30 minutes from her home at the successful workshop venue Les Soeurs Anglaises. For more information on these courses click this link

What we do at Come Cook In France

A 4 hour hands on cooking class followed by lunch - we eat what we cook. This course is themed and covers every type of subject from classic french dishes, to Asian, North African, Bread making, Pasta making etc. Simply check out the dates for what’s coming up.

Treat yourself to an afternoon cooking some delicious recipes in Louise’s kitchen, which we will then eat together, al fresco when we can, over a glass or too of wine. Ask you friends or family to join us for dinner, for a truly lovely food experience.

If you prefer a more bespoke, private course then I am always happy to work with 1 or 2 people in order to concentrate on all the finer details that the extra time allows. It is a more personal class and we discuss at length exactly what you would like to learn and cook.

Hi, I'm Louise Pickford, food writer, stylist and cookbook author. I live in France because I have discovered a country that celebrates food perhaps more than any other country on the planet. The food may be simple, but there is an honesty and integrity here that I love. The ingredients are wonderful, the seasons varied, the foraging vociferous. Food is for sharing, I am passionate about this and about sharing my knowledge with others.

Sitting snugly between the Charente Maritime coastline, with it's amazing seafood and the Dordogne where truffles and foie gras rule, the Charente remains a little known but none the less stunning area. It is blessed with boutique producers and amazing local ingredients and a charm all of it's own.

With access to great markets and locally grown produce this region is the perfect place for a cookery school. There are plenty of travel links so getting to us is easy (see contact details). The climate is good, short wet winters, long hot summers.

Your thoughts - "I recently took part in a vegetarian cookery class. Louise had chosen a varied selection of dishes. It was a fun and educative experience. Totally hands-on – working in pairs – but with clear and precise guidance throughout and help when needed. Then we all enjoyed a gorgeous lunch to round off a very convivial half day. Will be back." "Thank you Louise for a brilliant day. Lots learned, I love your style of relaxed teaching, but having been in the trade, I am well aware of the amount of preparation it must take. Very well done. Istvan Kremeny October 2017
