With the success of the twice monthly cook clubs at Come Cook In France, I am joining up with Les Soeurs Anglaises, a stunning creative workshop venue in The Dordogne, to run 3 day cookery workshops this summer. The workshops will include hands on cookery courses as well as a trip to both a fresh food market and a local artisan producer. The first one will take place in June on the 13th, 14th & 15th. To kick off the workshop we will visit the fresh food market in Angouleme where you can try some of the local produce followed by lunch at café chez Bruno Bachelier in the market, where you can discover some of the wonderful homemade duck charcuterie. After lunch we will visit the amazing vinegar producer and his wife Philippe and Francoise Fleuriet in Rouillac. On day two we will cook morning and afternoon using local products. Day three will begin a little later and after a very simple lunch we will prepare and cook a 4 course dinner to enjoy al fresco in the early evening.

the itinerary

Day one - We will meet up at Les Soeurs Anglaises at 9.30 am for a meet and greet coffee and pastry. From here you will be driven to Angouleme for a morning at Les Halles covered food market. Lunch will be taken at one of the wonderful cafes within the market. After lunch you will be driven on to Rouillac, west of Angouleme to discover the how one of France’s most delicious artisan vinegars is made. This will include a tour of the cellar, tasting the product, a visit to the potager and a chance to purchase some produce. You will then be returned to the venue where you can then return home.

Day two - We will cook in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Starting at 10am we will prepare and cook a delicious lunch made around some French pastry dishes, salads and homemade bread. After an enjoyable al fresco lunch we will then make some French macarons and financiers, to be enjoyed together over a lovely cup of tea.

Day three - A little later start today at 11am. We will start preparing our evening meal. Lunch will be a very simple affair of cured meats, cheese and salads. After lunch the full on prepping and cooking will take place all to be ready for an early al fresco dinner together with our hosts at 6am. We will say goodbye around 10pm.
